Max Temperature (F)
Negative latitude values indicate regions that are South of the equator and positive x values represent areas that are north of the equator (Lat. = 0 degrees). Accordingly, the figure illustrates that cities near the equator experience significantly higher temperatures than those further away from the equator. As expected, this observation parallels the classic migration patterns of many birds. For example, the Canada geese (often referred to as "Canadian goose") that breed and nest in spots closer to the sub-Arctic will typically (with exeptions) flock to regions in the southern U.S. to weather out the winter.
